Meth can be a smoking gun in your home and affect you in many ways. Your new home may be the subject of pre-purchase conditions to be tested. Your new rental may have an insurance policy that requires you to test prior to tenanting, or, worst of all, you may be living in a home and have become ill from toxic contamination.
Please note that meth sampling results are only valid if you have used an IANZ Accredited Inspection Body.
Below is a calculator that will give you an indication, based on your results by area, as to how many times meth was smoked in your home. Manufacture of methamphetamine produces highly toxic chemicals and must be remediated down to 1.5ug/100cm2, but high use can be equally as bad if left unchecked in your home. Use the calculator below to see how much use has caused your levels.
NB: The Meth Calculator is a tool designed to help interpret the methamphetamine readings supplied by Meth Xpert NZ, however, Meth Xpert makes no warranty nor assumes any legal liability for the accuracy or completeness of the results of this calculator. It is intended as a guide only and is derived from the best available information at the time in consultation with ESR.
Swab Area Swabs taken the surface area will be 100cm.
Room Area The size (known as the 'area') of the room is important for these calculations but may not necessarily have been recorded as part of the sampling process as it is dependant on what stage of testing you are at.
An estimate of the room size (area), in square meters will be suffice.
Length (m) x Width (m) = Area (m2). eg: 6 metres (long) by 3 metres (wide) = 18m2
The volume (height) of the room is not considered as important as meth smoke is hot, it rises and any resulting contamination tends to be more concentrated towards the ceiling.
About the Meth Calculator. The Meth Calculator helps give some perspective to the levels of contamination being observed. As such, it is intended as an indicative guide only. It is current only at the date and time of use. Meth Xpert endeavours to the best of its ability and knowledge to ensure that the results produced by the Meth Calculator are accurate.
